A modern twist on the traditional boerie roll! Boerie Sliders marinated in rich sherry and served with a robust prego sauce for a balance of rich and unique flavours – perfect from the braai to the pan.

Preparation

  1. Method

    1. Roll 80 g coils of boerewors and, in a bowl, marinate the coils in the sherry in a fridge for 1 hour. 
    2. Remove the boerewors coils from the sherry. Do not discard the sherry. 
    3. Prepare the coal braai/gas braai or griddle pan. Heat up a pan, add oil and butter, and sauté the chopped onions for about 5 min. Add the garlic and Robertsons Chicken Spice, sauté for another minute. 
    4. Pour all the saved sherry to the onion and garlic and bring to the boil. Stir regularly and let this cook and reduce by half. Set aside to cool. 
    5. Put the marinated boerewors on the hot grill/braai over hot coals for about 8 min until done. 
    6. Cut the cocktail buns in half and line with Knorr Professional Prego Sauce on each side. 
    7. Place the boerewors coil on the bun and top with the sherry onions. Close with the top bun and serve.
  2. Chef’s Tip

    1. Instead of buns you can use braaibroodjies and toast them on the braai.
