Part rooftop, part attic, you won’t be disappointed. If you like the ambience of a restored two centuries ago old heritage building (that was a mouthful), then you're in for a treat. They specialise in cocktails, a unique wine list, craft beers and drafts. Feeling a little hungry? Check out their tapas menu with appetising treats like deep-fried sushi rice squares and sticky pork belly skewers. Expect new indie and electronica music.

About: Durban certainly is one of the friendliest cities in South Africa. With no airs and graces, The George in Umhlanga is no exception when it comes to the friendly spirit of Durban. Did someone order a round of smiles? The George has been around for 24 years, with a large focus on their pub status, serving predominantly Robertsons Winery wines, as well as cocktails. For the last 3 – 4 years, they’ve done a little soul food searching, working on their food offering. Their meals are fantastic, and are made from scratch – from the pie filling, right down to the pie pastry. You can even build a board, selecting different items to snack on – from ribs, jalapeño poppers, chicken wings, chips and more!

About: Amsterdam in Glenwood is the perfect place to chill out after a long day. You’ll feel at home with the laid-back atmosphere and relaxed service. It’s certain that diners have mad love for the place because they keep returning. A lot of people know each other by name. The music is on tempo, staff is on point with friendly service and some say the food is the best pub and grill food in Durban. It’s especially popular on a Friday night. Snack on a burger or finger snacks, or build your own scrumptious snack basket – now that’s the stuff dreams are made of!
