Meet Paula Elliot, owner of Swanzie Catering. The name of her business was a natural fit as it was derived from her middle name and has been in her family for several generations. Chef Paula grew up on quaint sugarcane farm near Noodsberg, Kwa-Zulu Natal. By living on a farm Paula quickly grew a fascination for food. She was trained and got her Grande Diploma in Cordon Bleu Cooking at Silwood School of Cookery in Cape Town.
Chef Paula comes with an exceptional resume. Having worked in all sorts of environments around the world, from classy restaurants on the ski slopes of Canada to rustic lodges in the Russian Arctic Tundra, she comes with great experience. Her time at these places refined her cooking style and taught her to cherish and be tactical with her resources.
Once she was done with exploring she returned to her cultural home country, South Africa, and started her dream business – personalised catering. Chef Paula provides gourmet food for all family functions, but her main focus is on medium to large functions such as weddings, birthdays and engagement parties. She loves most about catering is her personal interaction with her clients. Her favourite part of the job is the joy her good wholesome food brings to the celebration.
So what’s her secret? She says loves to use the Knorr products as they are tasty and completely fail proof! Chef Paula has been using the chicken crumbing for many canapés and always gets great feedback from guests wanting to know her secret. Her next go to product Knorr Sweet Chilli dipping sauce, she has used this in her Thai Fish cake mixture and a dipping for her breaded prawns.
