Step 3:

  • 3 loaves French bread
  • Mixed lettuce leaves 150 g


  1. Step 1:

    • Pre-heat the oven to 160 °C. Mix oil and spice together and rub spice mix onto the meat. Place sirloin in a roasting dish and roast for 40 min. Remove from the oven and allow to rest before slicing.
  2. Step 2:

    • Slice onion and red pepper finely. Fry the onions, peppers and Robertsons Veggie Seasoning in oil until onions are soft. Add the sugar and balsamic vinegar, fry until caramelised. Allow to cool.
  3. Step 3:

    • Combine pesto and mayonnaise. Cut each loaf into 10 equal pieces.
    • To assemble: spread both sides of the French bread with basil mayo, add lettuce leaves, two slices of meat followed by pepper mixture. Portion the steak sarmie, package and serve.
  4. Hint:

    • Marinade the meat overnight for extra spice flavour.
  5. Chef's Tip:

    • Use chicken breast or tenderised steak instead of sirloin.
